Chasing The Light - a film by ed george

On February 4th, 2010, an assemblage of Grand Canyon painters and photographers embarked on a twenty-one day river trip through the canyon. The journey was documented on high-definition video and presents a unique opportunity to see these artists working, interacting and talking about the techniques and inspiration of their craft. The excitement of the rapids, the talent, camaraderie, and the beauty of February light in the canyon is a binding theme of the film.

“With a career that has taken him all over the world, Ed George’s images have been central to countless hair-raising documentaries on creatures like electric eels in Brazil, crocodiles of the Orinoco River in South America, Anacondas in Venezuela (nominated for an Emmy in 1999), (and) the giant Gaboon viper in the Congo Region of West Africa... Along with Santa Fe, N.M. based landscape artist Peter Nisbet, Flagstaff, AZ painters Bruce Aiken and David Grandon; photographers David Edwards, Shane McDemott, and John Running ...took to the water to document the canyon...The large group created and shared their art with each other in the at-times frigid winter air on the river. Through George’s fly-on-the-wall documentation, “Chasing The LIght” captures artists at that mercurial moment of inspiration...”
